For this Smackdown, I am going to talk about the website Watchmojo.com. This website is great because it provides information on a broad variety of topics in short 10-15 minute films. Most of the films are produced in a top ten video countdown format, and covers topics such as history, fitness, film, music, business, lifestyles, etc. What is also great about this website is that some of the videos are very informative such as "Top 10 healthiest foods", while other videos are produced for pure entertainment like "Top 10 songs with the worst lyrics. When I am bored I constantly look up new Watchmojo videos on Youtube.com and I am always entertained. While the films do show some bias, the producers try to be as unbiased as possible and offer reasonable explanations as to why the particular subject fits into that video.
Watchmojo was founded by Ashkan Karbasfrooshan, Raphael Daigneault and Christine Voulieris in 2005. The WatchMojo.com website was launched on January 23, 2006 and its YouTube channel was launched on January 25th, 2007. The YouTube channel has reached over 1.7 billion views with 6.6 million subscribers as of 2014. The company has 17 full time employees and uses around 80-90 freelance writers and editors for it's content. What also makes this website really cool is the fan base interaction. Almost all of the videos produces are suggestions given by the subscribers on the website, Facebook page, twitter, or YouTube comments. The website itself is very user-friendly, easy to navigate, and filled with interesting content.
